Fiorentina Signs PSG’s Cher Ndour for €12 Million

Fiorentina have officially signed PSG midfielder Cher Ndour (20), as both clubs have announced this significant move. The Italian youth international had a challenging stint at PSG after joining the club in July 2023 from Benfica. Initially, he showed promise, but by the time he reached the halfway mark of the 2024-2025 campaign, he spent the first part of the season out on loan at Besiktas.

Ndour’s time at PSG was marked by difficulties in settling into the squad. In fact, he was loaned out for the first time in January 2024 to SC Braga, indicating that he struggled to secure a consistent place in the team. Over the course of his time with Les Parisiens, he only managed to feature in four matches, highlighting his limited impact on the field.

His move to Besiktas at the beginning of the current season seemed like a fresh opportunity, where he took the chance to gain valuable playing time. During his loan spell with the Istanbul-based club, Ndour made 22 appearances, which included one goal and two assists, suggesting that he began to find his rhythm and showcase his talents on the pitch.

However, due to strategic decisions made by PSG, the club opted to cut Ndour’s loan short and sell him outright. This decision was largely influenced by the necessity to free up a loan spot as PSG had already reached the maximum quota of six senior players that can be sent out on loan. The players occupying those slots include Renato Sanches (Benfica), Milan Skriniar (Fenerbahçe), Carlos Soler (West Ham), Randal Kolo Muani (Juventus), Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen), along with Ndour.

The exit of Ndour is also expected to facilitate other transfers for PSG, notably allowing Marco Asensio to join Aston Villa on loan. The transfer fee agreed upon between Fiorentina and PSG for Ndour is reportedly €12 million, marking a new chapter in his career as he joins the Italian side. It remains to be seen how Ndour will adapt to his new surroundings and whether he will make a greater impact with Fiorentina than he could with his previous clubs.
