Leading LIV Golf players are set to gain significant opportunities to compete in major tournaments, as the latest announcement reveals that the highest-ranked golfer in the top five of this season’s LIV standings will be invited to participate in the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, provided they are not otherwise exempt. This marks a progressive step for the LIV Golf League and its participants, allowing them to compete at one of the most prestigious events in professional golf.
In addition to this, the US Open recently announced that it would also extend a direct invitation to one of the leading LIV stars by offering them a spot at Oakmont in June. Specifically, this opportunity will be given to the highest-placed player in the top three of the LIV standings. Other golfers competing within the LIV framework will still have additional avenues to secure a spot at Royal Portrush, which is scheduled to take place from July 17-20.
