Official: Crystal Palace sign Yeremy Pino from Villarreal

Crystal Palace have made a significant addition to their squad by signing Spain winger Yeremy Pino from Villarreal in a deal worth up to £26 million. The talented 22-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the club and is set to be available for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Aston Villa this Sunday.

Pino was previously subject to a hefty £69 million release clause. However, with less than two years remaining on his current contract, Villarreal opted to accept Palace’s offer, valuing the opportunity to secure a good financial deal while allowing Pino to embark on a new chapter in his career.

Steve Parish, the chairman of Crystal Palace, expressed his excitement regarding the signing, stating, “It’s fantastic news that Yeremy – an exciting young talent, with already such an impressive record in domestic, European, and international football – has chosen us as the next step in his career.” This sentiment highlights the club’s optimism about Pino’s potential contributions, particularly as they prepare for an intense season that includes competing on multiple fronts. Parish continued, “With an exciting season ahead for the club… he is a player whose talents Palace fans will particularly appreciate – and I look forward to seeing him step out at Selhurst Park.”

Yeremy Pino’s football journey began at Las Palmas, where he developed through their youth setup. Since making his debut for Villarreal in 2020, he has amassed an impressive 133 appearances for the club, demonstrating his reliability and skill on the pitch. Last season, Pino scored four goals in 34 league matches, playing a pivotal role in helping Villarreal secure a fifth-place finish in La Liga, which qualified them for the Champions League.

On the international scene, Pino has also made a mark, netting three goals in 15 matches for the Spanish national team since debuting in 2021. His performance at the international level further cements his reputation as a promising talent ready to make an impact in one of the toughest football leagues in the world.

His transfer to Crystal Palace comes just a week after England forward Eberechi Eze completed a high-profile £60 million move to Arsenal. This adds to the intrigue surrounding the Eagles’ transfer activities, as Pino becomes only their third summer signing. The club had previously secured goalkeeper Walter Benitez from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer and defender Borna Sosa from Ajax for £3 million.

In addition to these signings, Palace is reportedly targeting Manchester City’s 30-year-old Switzerland defender Manuel Akanji, indicating their ambition to bolster their squad further. With these moves, Crystal Palace is clearly positioning itself to enhance its competitiveness in the Premier League and to provide their fans with an exhilarating season ahead.
