Barcelona is reportedly keen on acquiring Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy in the upcoming summer transfer window, as outlined by BILD. The La Liga champions are actively seeking a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose current contract is slated to end next summer. The leadership at Barcelona has opted against extending Lewandowski’s contract, primarily due to concerns regarding his age and recent fitness struggles.
Even though Lewandowski had an outstanding season in 2024/25, during which he tallied 42 goals, this season has seen him starting only one La Liga match, where he managed to score two goals against Valencia. In the meantime, Ferran Torres has seemingly surpassed Lewandowski in Barcelona’s attacking hierarchy, owing to his impressive form on the pitch.
Manager Hansi Flick has shown considerable faith in Torres, who has scored four goals and contributed an assist within just five matches this season. While there is growing belief that Torres could evolve into the leading striker for Barcelona in the near future, the club remains focused on bringing in a high-profile center forward to solidify their attacking options for the coming campaign.
Given that presidential elections are anticipated next year, current president Joan Laporta and influential candidates such as Victor Font are keen to secure a marquee signing that could impress the fanbase and bolster their vision for the club. Guirassy has emerged prominently on Barcelona’s radar thanks to his remarkable scoring ability and contributions over the past few seasons.
Last season, the 29-year-old striker concluded with a breathtaking tally of 38 goals and nine assists. He was celebrated as the joint-top scorer in the Champions League, matching Raphinha with 13 goals and even delivered a memorable hat-trick against Flick’s team during the tournament’s quarter-finals. Guirassy’s exceptional form has continued into this season, with four goals scored in just four Bundesliga matches, reinforcing his status as a key player for Dortmund.
The Bundesliga side is reportedly willing to entertain offers for Guirassy, setting a lucrative price tag of approximately €100 million for the Guinean international, whose contract runs until 2028. Hansi Flick has expressed admiration for Guirassy’s potential, viewing him as an ideal fit for his tactical framework, given the player’s versatility and prolific scoring record.
However, Barcelona’s ongoing financial constraints cast uncertainty on their ability to make such significant investments in the transfer market. The club is actively working to navigate these economic challenges, which could impact their ability to attract elite talent. Alongside Guirassy, Barcelona is also considering Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, highlighting their commitment to strengthening the squad ahead of the next season.
