Fiorentina have sacked their head coach Stefano Pioli with immediate effect

Fiorentina has officially announced the departure of Stefano Pioli from his role as head coach of the first team. This decision arrives as the club struggles at the bottom of the Serie A standings, having failed to secure a single victory in their first ten matches of the season. The mounting criticism and pressure were evident, particularly following a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Lecce, a team that is also fighting against relegation. Despite the alarming situation, Pioli had remained steadfast and refused to step down voluntarily, a decision that ultimately led the management to terminate his contract.

In their official announcement, ACF Fiorentina stated, “ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team.” They took the opportunity to express their appreciation for Pioli along with his coaching staff, acknowledging the professionalism and commitment they exhibited during their time with the club. This situation is particularly significant as Pioli had only returned to Fiorentina earlier in the summer, signing a three-year contract with high hopes of enhancing the team’s performance.

In light of Pioli’s departure, Daniele Galloppa, previously the head coach of the Fiorentina U20 team, has been appointed as the interim head coach. Galloppa will assume his responsibilities starting with today’s training session, where he will work to prepare the team for their upcoming challenges. His immediate focus will be on an important Conference League match against Mainz scheduled for Thursday. The club and its fanbase now look to Galloppa, hoping that his knowledge of the players and the youth system will facilitate a much-needed revival for the first team. This transitional phase is crucial as Fiorentina seeks to regain momentum and improve their standing in the league, marking a pivotal point in the current season.
