Roberto Mancini Appointed Head Coach of Al Sadd

Al Sadd Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of Roberto Mancini as their new head coach, effective immediately. The announcement, shared by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, marks a significant move in Mancini’s career as he returns to coaching in the Middle East.

Mancini, who previously held the position of head coach for Saudi Arabia, left that role over a year ago and has since been searching for a new opportunity in football management. This Thursday, he officially signed a contract with Al-Sadd, a prominent team in Qatar, that spans two and a half years. His arrival is noteworthy, as he joins the ranks of esteemed coaches who have managed the club, including football legends like Xavi Hernandez and Rabah Madjer.

As Mancini approaches his 61st birthday later this month, this new chapter in his career signifies a reunion with the region where he previously made headlines as the manager of the Saudi Arabia national team, a position he held from August 2023 to October 2024. His experience and tactical knowledge are expected to bring a fresh perspective to Al Sadd as they aim to elevate their performance in the league.

Mancini’s debut on the sidelines for Al-Sadd is scheduled for November 24, when he will lead the team in an away match against Al-Wahda in the highly competitive AFC Champions League. Currently, Al Sadd is positioned sixth in the Qatar Stars League and has been under the interim management of Sergio Alegre after the dismissal of Felix Sanchez on October 15. With Mancini at the helm, fans and players alike are eager to see how his leadership will influence the team’s performance and aspirations for the season ahead.
