New York Jets Cornerback Kris Boyd in Critical Condition After Shooting

Kris Boyd, a cornerback for the New York Jets, has been hospitalized following a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Manhattan. He is currently reported to be in critical but stable condition.

According to a spokesperson from the New York Police Department, emergency responders arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street, where they found a 29-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was promptly transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. The police have not disclosed the identity of the victim, but it has been confirmed that Boyd is the individual involved in this incident.

As of now, there have been no arrests made, and the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing. The Jets organization has acknowledged the situation, stating, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.” Similarly, an NFL spokesperson mentioned that they have been in contact with the Jets but will refrain from providing additional comments.

Kris Boyd was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 and has also played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals during his career. Earlier this year, in March, he signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets, marking a significant step in his professional journey.

This incident highlights the ongoing issues of violence and safety in urban areas, and it raises concerns about the well-being of athletes off the field. The Jets and the NFL are likely to monitor the situation closely as it develops.
