LeBron James etched his name in NBA history by becoming the first player to participate in 23 consecutive seasons when he took the court for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. At 40 years old, James made a notable comeback after sitting out the team’s first 14 games this season due to sciatica. During his return, he made significant contributions, recording 11 points, 12 assists, and three rebounds in just 30 minutes of play, helping the Lakers secure a 140-126 victory over the Utah Jazz.
With this appearance, James surpassed Vince Carter’s record of 22 consecutive NBA seasons. Furthermore, his two successful three-pointers during the game propelled him past Reggie Miller, placing him sixth on the NBA’s all-time list for most three-pointers made.
Lakers teammate Luka Doncic praised James’ performance, saying, “Considering how long it’s been since he last played basketball, he looked incredible for his first game back. As he continues to find his rhythm, he will be a tremendous asset to our team.” Doncic himself had an outstanding performance, leading all scorers with 37 points and contributing four steals, along with 10 assists and five rebounds.
Other notable performances came from Austin Reaves, who scored 26 points for the Lakers, while the Jazz saw strong efforts from Keyonte George and Lauri Markkanen, who scored 34 and 31 points, respectively.
With this victory, the Lakers climbed to fourth place in the Western Conference standings, while the Jazz currently sit in 10th place. James’ return is seen as a pivotal moment for the Lakers this season, as they look to build on this win and solidify their position in the playoff race.
