Brighton Welcomes Back Gross Until June 2027

Germany international Pascal Gross has made a significant return to Brighton & Hove Albion from Borussia Dortmund, signing a deal that extends until June 2027. This move marks an exciting reunion for both the player and the club, as Gross, now 34 years old, has previously made a remarkable 261 appearances for the Seagulls before his transfer to the Bundesliga club 18 months ago for a fee of approximately £8 million.

During his tenure at Borussia Dortmund, Gross showcased his skills by featuring in 66 matches, where he scored one goal and provided 17 assists, demonstrating his capability as a playmaker. His experience in one of Europe’s top leagues will undoubtedly contribute to his effectiveness in the Premier League upon his return.

Gross’s previous time at Brighton spanned seven seasons, beginning from his arrival from FC Ingolstadt in 2017. He expressed that he was leaving with a “heavy heart” but felt compelled to pursue his dream of joining his boyhood club, understanding that he would “regret” not making that move.

Throughout his initial stay at Brighton, Gross was instrumental in helping the team achieve its highest-ever league finish. During the impressive 2022-23 campaign, he played a vital role in guiding the club to a sixth-place finish, which secured Brighton a coveted spot in European competitions.

On an international level, Gross has represented Germany 16 times, underscoring his status as a talented and valued midfielder. Notably, he has scored 30 goals and provided 45 assists in a total of 228 Premier League appearances, showcasing his effectiveness and contributions on the pitch.
