Minnesota Vikings Receiver Moore Dies at 25

The Minnesota Vikings have expressed their heartfelt condolences following the tragic death of wide receiver Rondale Moore, who was found deceased at his residence on Sunday at the age of 25.

Authorities in Moore’s hometown of New Albany, Indiana, responded to a call on Saturday night, discovering Moore unresponsive in a garage. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled to take place shortly to determine the circumstances surrounding his passing.

In an official statement, the Vikings expressed profound sorrow over Moore’s untimely death. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rondale Moore,” they shared. “As we work to comprehend the situation, we have reached out to Rondale’s family to convey our condolences and the full support of the Minnesota Vikings organization.”

Furthermore, the team emphasized their commitment to the emotional well-being of their players and staff, stating, “We have engaged in conversations with our players, coaches, and staff, offering counseling and emotional support resources to anyone who may need it. Our thoughts are with Rondale’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

Moore’s NFL journey began with the Arizona Cardinals, where he played for three seasons after being selected as a second-round pick in the 2021 draft. In 2024, he joined the Atlanta Falcons, but a knee injury sidelined him for the entire season. He eventually became a member of the Vikings in 2025.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell shared his reflections on Moore, saying, “Though Rondale was with us for a brief period, he quickly became someone we cherished deeply. He was a humble, soft-spoken individual who took pride in his Indiana roots. It breaks our hearts to realize that he won’t have the opportunity to fulfill his NFL aspirations and that we, too, will miss the chance to witness his growth and success on the field.”

The NFL also expressed their sorrow, stating that they were “deeply saddened” by the “tragic passing” of Moore.

Moore made his NFL debut in 2021 and accumulated impressive statistics during his time with the Cardinals, recording 135 receptions for 1,201 yards over three seasons. The Cardinals lamented his passing in a heartfelt statement, saying, “We are devastated and heartbroken by today’s news. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who had the honor of knowing such a remarkable individual.”

Former Cardinals teammate JJ Watt conveyed his shock, stating, “I can’t even begin to fathom or process this. It feels unreal. This is far too soon. He was incredibly special and had so much more to offer. Rest in peace, Rondale.”

The NFL Players Association, which advocates for player welfare, highlighted the importance of support during such tragic moments. They encouraged players to check in on their teammates and prioritize their mental health, reminding everyone of the weight that players carry both on and off the field.
