Official: Cesare Casadei joins Torino on permanent deal from Chelsea

Torino have confirmed the signing of Cesare Casadei, a move that marks a significant step in the midfielder’s career after his spell at Chelsea. The Italian club reported that they have acquired Casadei for a fee of €15 million, and this transfer seems beneficial for all parties involved. According to football journalist Ben Jacobs, the 22-year-old former Inter youth player has officially joined Torino, which is a notable return to Serie A for him.

During his time at Chelsea, Casadei struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup. Having made only 17 first-team appearances since joining the Blues in 2022 for a fee that was believed to reach up to €20 million (£16.7 million/$20.7 million), it became clear that a change was necessary for the young talent. The lack of game time at Chelsea prompted his loan spells, as he was sent to Reading for the 2022-23 Championship season, where he made 15 appearances. Following this, he rounded off his loan journey by playing 25 times for Leicester City in the English second tier during the subsequent campaign.

This signing not only provides Casadei with a fresh opportunity to establish himself in the competitive Serie A environment but also allows Torino to add a promising talent to their squad. Furthermore, the deal includes a 25 percent sell-on clause, which means Chelsea could benefit if Torino decides to sell Casadei in the future.

As he gears up for his debut, Casadei is expected to become an integral part of the Torino lineup. His potential first appearance could come against Genoa on Saturday, February 8, a match that fans will be eagerly anticipating as they see how the young midfielder adapts to his new surroundings and contributes to his team’s performance on the field. With his experience from English football and his youth international background representing Italy, there’s a sense of hope that Casadei can flourish in this new chapter of his career at Torino.
